Our Interventional Radiology Services
About Our Minimally Invasive Procedures
Our highly-trained team uses advanced imaging equipment to guide catheters and other devices through the body. This allows us to treat patients with conditions that were untreatable in the past — or that used to require open surgery.
Compared to surgical procedures, interventional radiology procedures often decrease complications, pain, and recovery time.
Featured Treatments
Treatment for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome
Ovarian Vein Embolization
Women who suffer from chronic pelvic pain may have a syndrome called Pelvic Congestion. Often, this pain worsens with standing, walking, or sexual intercourse. Pelvic Congestion Syndrome is when a woman’s pelvic veins are enlarged or dilated causing blood to pool and collect in the veins resulting in pain. Women at most risk for PCS are women of child bearing age that have had more than one pregnancy, family or personal history of varicose veins, or polycystic ovaries. In this procedure, we guide a catheter through a blood vessel to your enlarged pelvic veins. Then, we close off the abnormal veins, so they can no longer dilate with blood. This can significantly reduce or eliminate chronic pelvic pain.
Treatment for Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Artery Embolization
This procedure is a minimally invasive treatment that causes uterine fibroids to shrink, which can decrease pelvic pain and other symptoms. In uterine artery embolization, we use a small catheter to deliver microscopic particles to the fibroid tumor arteries to block the blood supply to the fibroids. This is done while maintaining the blood supply to the uterus — causing the uterine fibroids to shrink without affecting the healthy uterine tissue.
Treatment for Varicoceles
Varicocele Embolization
We use a small catheter to perform a minimally invasive procedure that targets the dilated veins in the scrotum. Through the catheter, we close off the abnormal veins so the varicocele veins can no longer dilate. This leads to the shrinkage of the affected veins, providing relief from pain and treating infertility.
Varicose Vein Treatments
Endovenous Ablation, Varithena and Asclera Sclerotherapy, Venaseal
These treatments are all minimally invasive procedures that close off varicose veins and reduce pain.
Cancer Treatments
TACE-CHEMOEMBOLIZATION, BLAND EMBOLIZATION, THERMAL ABLATION OF TUMORS
We do a variety of different treatments to hold off cancer growth and damage. These procedures can reduce the size of tumors and improve survival rates in patients with cancer.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
With PAD, arteries supplying blood to the legs are narrowed or blocked, which can cause leg pain. There are minimally invasive treatments to open up the arteries, including inserting a catheter and using a balloon and/or a stent to open the artery, or using a laser to perform a procedure that removes buildup from the artery walls. This restores blood flow to the leg and decreases leg pain.
Spinal Compression Fracture Treatment
Kyphoplasty, Vertebroplasty
These procedures use a hollow needle to inject medical cement into affected vertebrae. This helps to stabilize the vertebrae and possibly restore some vertebral height. Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty can reduce spinal pain, help you stand straight, and prevent other fractures from occurring in the future.
